Designing haute couture collections

The first J.Charle’s collection is characterized by many different pieces of textile, reflecting the different aspects composing our personalities. Indeed, our complexe personality is the result of all the experiences we lived and the choices that define us. Therefore, the assembly of those elements together create an item, perfectly fitting the body and reflecting the chosen personality.

We call it the « fashion identity ». We insist on this component because we want our customers to be fashionable and to reflect their identity through the clothes they are wearing. For this reason, this first collection is an assembly of trendy pieces, that can be personalized to achieve the perfect match

The second determining element of the collection is the asymmetry. It represents the ambivalence our personality can have by creating a singular world composed by elements from different fields. They finally become complementary and create a harmony together, as the asymmetry does it.

The Founder

The founder of J.Charle, Julie, is a Belgian fashion designer.

She grew up in Brussels, in the house of her great grand-mother, and surrounded with friends from different cultures. Those two elements are clearly reflected in the models she will later create.

Julie was interested in fashion since she could wore her grand-mother - way too big. - haute couture dresses. She nevertheless first decided to cultivate her interest in culture and business by studying translation in French-Arabic and entrepreneurship.

Her studies allowed her to travel a lot by doing exchanges programs and internships in England, Malta, Tunisia, Argentina and Spain.

After working some years as a business controller, she finally decide to turn back to her true love : fashion. By that time she wasn't experienced and therefore learned to be fashion designer by assisting some professionals who taught her the ropes of the job.

As "dresses are a way to tell about yourself without having to speak", her purpose is to allow woman to wear dresses in which they feel their personality represented and their shape fitted. Consequently, Julie designed models that could be worn by women with different style, modesties, and bodies.

Our Value

J.Charle was created around a deep belief : clothe should be able to adapt to bodies, not the other way around. Moreover, we wanted to include not only body shapes, but also styles and modesties.

This is the reason why J.Charle's concept has two main ambitions :

-Shape the body : by allowing the customer to select the size of the top, independently of the size of the bottom. the objective is a perfect fit.

Reflect customer's identity : by creating outfits revealing body, as well as more covering outfits. The objective is to respect style/modesty.

About manufacturing, we also make a point of offering a good working environment to our staff by closely hearing out their needs and ideas.

Our first steps in ecology are to contribute to circular economy by giving away all the scraps of fabrics to sewing schools, in order to avoid them to buy new textiles by reusing ours.

Inside J.Charle Workshop

Our workshop , located in Brussels, is the place where J.Charle's drawing come to life.

The firs sketches, are usually drawn at julie's home, where she can let her inspiration run free. Then, it's time to solicit technical skills at workshop : Julie, helped by other designers work on conceiving toiles that represents her drawings.

After some tests, they finally design ready-to-wear prototypes. These prototypes are conceived in the same textiles than those used to create the final products. This way doing leaves no-room for doubts: we now know what the final dress will really look like.

Once the dress is achieved and validated, it is declined in different sizes by our designers and then send to the shop, in order to let the clients see them and try them on.

The manufacturing of the client's orders is spread on our workshop and other ones located in Brussels, depending the demand. Let's note that all of them are workshops that share our values - good working environment and provide haute couture quality.
